adopt a babyToday’s adoption mission, should you choose to accept it, is a quick reminder about adoption success.

Do you remember the key to adoption success? Working on your adoption one hour a day, then putting it away (unless you feel like doing more!).

Are you doing this?  Faithfully?

The Adoption For Life families who are doing this are finding success. They are talking to birth mothers, making progress, even parenting babies already!  Where do you stand in your progress?

If you are struggling or finding it difficult to make progress, I encourage you to get a small planner, even just a dollar store one that has little squares for each day, and before bed each night, write the next day’s Adoption Mission, basically your goal for the one hour.

It can be just ONE thing. That box is pretty small, but write one thing as your mission for the day.  It may be something like:

  • Write Dear Birth Mother letter
  • Create Facebook Adoption page
  • Figure out preferences
  • Call home study providers
  • Fill out paperwork
  • Attend webinar
  • Read a lesson and print out the forms

Keep it simple and focused.  Do your thinking now, beforehand, so that when it is time for your hour a day, you just have to do the work in front of you.

You should be checking in monthly with your coordinator to let her know where you are in your progress and to ask for any help or resources you need.  She is standing by to help you and ensure that you are staying on track. But she cannot do her job if you aren’t doing yours.

If you are not sure what to do next, talk to your coordinator. She will help you identify where you need to be and what you need to be focusing on next.

Today’s mission is complete once you send your coordinator a quick update of where you are in your adoption progress. Then, write down tomorrow’s mission and continue toward the baby God has meant for you!
